I’ve found that it’s essential to examine your thoughts…often. Your thought-life dictates every single move you make. Because once you change your thoughts, you change your life.

5 Lessons In Success I Learned Over the Last 5 Years

Have you ever encountered  a book, a place, or a person that from the very moment of contact, causes a dramatic paradigm shift in your life? I have.

There is no single person living who has had a greater impact on my life within the last 5 years than Gary Vaynerchuk. I thought long and hard before writing that last statement, but in every analysis I’ve done, Gary comes up as being most influential (by far).

Putting Your Best “Selfie” Forward: 20 Tips For a Better Profile Picture

We’ve all taken one…whether we care to admit it or not. That’s right, I’m talking about the infamous “selfie.” We live in the digital age, where nearly everyone who is anyone has at least one (or many) social media accounts. All of them have at least one thing in common: they require a profile photo. And since profile photos are attached to nearly all our social media, mobile applications, and dating accounts, I believe 95% of the decision to contact or respond to someone online is based on the photo. The fast growth of new applications like Swoon, Tinder, and SnapChat (photo based and optimized for the small screen) are forcing us  to focus even more on the photo. If a picture was worth a thousand words in the 1920s, it’s worth a billion words today!

As a professional matchmaker, I see hundreds of photos daily. What amazes me is how ever slight tweaks can take a “selfie” from “terrible” to “compelling.” This curiosity of what makes a photo standout is what led me to dig deep and research extensively (across 20 million people) to find out exactly what you can do to increase the number of people who interact with your profile.

Let’s talk about 20 tips that I hope will  help you put your best “selfie” forward.

How to Know When to Respond to Your Girlfriend or Wife and When to Keep Your Mouth Shut

How to Know When to Respond to Your Girlfriend or Wife and When to Keep Your Mouth Shut

This is a public service announcement to my fellow men currently in a relationship with a woman and you don’t know if she actually wants you to respond when she has a “conversation” with you or she wants you to sit silently with your mouth shut.

I’ve been married for 12 years and, honestly, have just figured it out. Based on all the “talks” my wife and I have had plus what I’ve observed from closely watching the women in my life (grandmothers, mother, mother in-law, sister-in-laws, aunts, cousins, and female friends), here’s what I’ve discovered:

How To Believe In Your Dreams In Spite of No Evidence

How To Believe In Your Dreams In Spite of No Evidence

The following post is written by Ashley Rankin. Ashley is a recent Biotechnology graduate and has contributed to studies in cancer research. She co-authors the blog 365 Days of Light with her brother, Jeremy. You can also find her on Twitter and Facebook.

In the Far East they have something called the Chinese Bamboo Tree. The Chinese Bamboo takes five years to grow. During this process, you must water and fertilize the seeds daily. The sprouts don’t break through the ground until the fifth year. But once they break through the ground, within five weeks they grow ninety feet tall. Now, anytime throughout the process, if you stop watering, nurturing, and fertilizing, the bamboo tree would die in the ground.

Your dreams are like the bamboo tree.

20 Things I Did To Change My Life (that Worked) This Year

I have been a notorious New Year’s resolution maker and by Spring Break, a New Year’s resolution breaker. This year, I’ve decide to go a different direction. Opposed to writing down what I want to accomplish, I’m writing down what I have accomplished. Interestingly, writing this list has helped me better understand what I should be doing more of (and if that can be considered a resolution, I’ll take it). My hope is that you’re able to learn from my mistakes (and wins) and make your 2014 (and beyond) incredible beyond belief!

Here are 20 things I did to change my life (that worked) in 2013:

1)  Stopped measuring myself by others’ yardsticks

The Joneses was killin’ a brother 🙂 Every time I opened Facebook, I saw this person buying a new exotic car, this other one traveling to a new exotic location, this other one showing off their new exotic house – making the comparisons was draining. The thing about comparison is that there is never a win. Now, I’ve committed to only compare myself to the best version of myself.
